Yes, I think that was live TV
Jonathon Vaughters dropped an F-Bomb on Vs. when Robbie Ventura asks him a question during David Millar’s time trial.
Robbie’s jaw dropped and he seemed genuinely surprised and not sure how to respond, considering the camera as on him and the phrase went out live.
Something tells me it might be bleeped out for the rebroadcast.
Still, that was some fun television. I think that’s part of the magic of a time trial on the tube. There is always something to comment on because each cyclist is having an individual race. There’s no sitting in and there’s constant suffering. Drama at all times because there were probably 30 cameras on 30 cyclists with lots of stories to tell.
Though I love the long road races, too, the time trials are hard to walk away from. During a 200k race, you can step away for a transaction in the board room, grab a bite to eat, check your blog and not really miss much. Not so this morning. I felt like if I made a trip to the fridge I’d miss Cancellara, Millar or another stud make a massive improvement in time at a checkpoint or see someone fall off the pace and instantly become a non-factor in the GC.
Yes, for me this was good television.

It was Robbie Ventura who was in the car but yeah, that was pretty funny. The look on his face was hilarious. He didn’t want to say anything and call attention to what Jonathon had just done yet he had no idea what he should say!

You’re right. And now, with the magic of the Internets, I’ll correct my mistake!

Watching a time trial vs. watching paint dry… pretty much a wash.

You must have some really cool paint!
I liked watching hours 1-2.5 of the TT just as much as watching hours 1-3.5 of Stage 2.
The finish of the road stage is usually better, but I actually really enjoyed watching each individual races of a time trial.
Watching a TT in person? Probably not too exciting. But on TV with cameras bouncing form cyclist to cyclist I found it pretty compelling.
It might be only a crit that is worth watching in person as a fan.
