King Leonidas and the 300 Warriors are calling you
Just 300 spots open on a first come, first serve basis to pre-ride Stage 4 of the Tour of Utah.
Sign up and you get a four hour head start on the pros and will try to cover 98 miles and more than 14,000 feet of climbing in time to see Burke Swindlehurst, Jeff Louder and the Rock Racing skeletors cross the finish line.
You get a jersey, a medal and my admiration.
As I write this, I am in for what will be the longest and worst day of suffering I’ll ever have had on a bike.
Only 200 more slots available.

Can I do this if I’m in the race? I MIGHT have a chance at a stage win with a four hour head start!

The way I see it, I might have a chance too.
I’ll have to have my Jimmy Olsen gear waiting for me at the finish line, however, so I can hurry and conduct an interview with the actual stage winner.

That is a lot of miles and a crazy amount of vertical! It’s a tempting route, but it is WAY bigger than anything I have yet attempted. And judging how I felt after other big rides, I don’t think I could finish – surely not before the pros rolled through.

And to think, for only $130 you, too, can call home crying and ask to be picked up by your wife, hubby, significant other of the ambulance midway up the Alpine Loop.

The more I think about this, the more I think I’d rather do Tour de Park City and sell this registration for my cost.
I think for my training needs I’d be just as happy and well off competing in the XTERRA mountain triathlon in the morning and then scampering back to the TofU pace car to cover the race.
