Prayers for Marek

with 6 comments

Many Utah cyclists probably heard the news at the RMR Crit Thursday, or maybe earlier, but Marek Shon is recovering from a stroke. The Bywaters told us Marek had brain surgery to remove a blood clot and is recovering but has limited speech and it may be a while before he’s out at the races again.

So, if you can, keep him in your prayers.

  1. Yes I agree and I wanted to post this. I was racing with him on Saturday and he seemed fine one minute then I heard Monday at Cyclesmith he had a medical emergency.
I’m shocked with the number of cyclist I’ve known here who have had serious issues or death. It really puts things in perspective that life is fragile. My thoughts are with Marek and his family tonite.
My favorite quote is to live your physical life as if you wll live forever and to live your spiritual life as if you will die tommorow.

  3. Get well, Brother Shon … get well. Even this non-religious person of some faith will say a prayer tonight.

  5. I’ve known Marek for years. We rode together during high school. I am devastated to read this news.

  6. He’s mostly recovered now and is often at races officiating and running the show.
