And so it begins …
I’m an average cyclist — below average, actually.
I’m also an average writer. But I try.
This blog will detail my journey from Cat 5 also ran to, hopefully, a Cat 3 and Masters 35/45+ contender. I love to ride my bike but have only be ‘into’ the sport for the last year or so and have managed to not embarass myself in a few races. I’ve also embrassed myself in a few races, too.
My goal, obviously, is to never embarass myself on the bike. That will take training, practice and a little discipline as I work my way into racing shape and earn a few points here and there in the local racing circuit.
For starters, I’m dedicating myself to LOTOJA 2008. I had an opportunity to race in this year’s event, but my training isn’t anywhere near the place I think it should be to complete the 206-mile course in a respectable manner. I’m pretty sure I could finish, but I want to live to tell about it and not get kicked off the road by the race officials.
Check back if you want and follow me on my trip from newbie bicycle racer to finish lines across the region.
